Ellenor McIntosh, co-founder of Twipes, has been named among the Top Young Entrepreneurs creating the products, methods and materials of tomorrow in Forbes 30 Under 30 2020, in the manufacturing and industry category.

Twipes makes chemical-free, biodegradable and truly flushable wet wipes that disperse in water within three hours. The company is dedicated to reducing environmental impact, with the packaging is made form recycled materials and packs adelivered by green delivery services. Ellenor McIntosh and Alborz Bozorgi were winners of the 2017 Mayor of London’s Entrepreneur of the Year student competition, receiving £20,000 for the business, and among 15 innovative companies pitching to investors during a recent Pitchfest Showcase Day in Cambridge.

The Forbes list is compiled from thousands of international competitions, months of investigative reporting and finalised with the seal of approval from the Forbes panel of judges, resulting in a final selection of 30 young visionaries boldly redefining ten industries across 32 European countries.

The Twipes founders are working closely on scaling the business with Kirsten Masson, Enterprise Europe Innovation Advisor based at St John’s Innovation Centre, Cambridge. After participating in Pitchfest, Ellenor said:

"Pitchfest has given us a new perspective on how to pitch to investors in a way that is unique. I would recommend anyone who wants to get in the eyes of investors to apply!"

Alborz Bozorgi said:

"Pitchfest gave us a huge platform, which we needed to get the Twipes name out there to investor networks across the UK."

Pitchfest is the Enterprise Europe Network’s flagship pitch training and showcase programme, helping companies with innovative technologies to raise finance. Since participating, Twipes has launched a subscription platform for consumers looking for an alternative to the 11 billion non-biodegradable wet wipes used in the UK that are behind 90% of sewer blockages and fatbergs, and which release micro-plastics into rivers and oceans.

"This is fantastic news to see Ellenor recognised as one of Forbes’s 30 visionary leaders under 30 in Europe reinventing business and society," said Kirsten Masson, EEN Adviser for the East of England. "We are delighted to work with this ambitious, fast growing, eco-friendly start-up. They have a strong team, disruptive product and a global vision. We are excited to be part of their scale-up journey."
