Innovate UK EDGE, Innovate UK's business growth and scaling service, is holding the inaugural summit of the new Scaleup Programme Alumni Community, in collaboration with the London Stock Exchange and the ScaleUp Institute today.
The community extends the duration and depth of Innovate UK's support for scaling British businesses and builds on the Scaleup Programme's strong impact also announced in a report today.
The 100 assembled leaders of dynamic scaling businesses and specially-invited Innovate UK Innovation Loans portfolio companies heard from the Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets Paul Scully MP who contributed the foreword to the event literature, whilst Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy Chris Philp MP delivered a video address at the start of proceedings.
Irene Graham OBE, CEO at the ScaleUp Institute, delivered the welcome address, followed by Indro Mukerjee, Innovate UK CEO and Julia Hoggett, CEO at the London Stock Exchange.
The delegates benefited from panels and talks from experts on raising scaleup capital, demystifying IPOs and branding and marketing and meeting their peers from across the country. Such opportunities for knowledge exchange and connections with like-minded ambitious scaling business will be a hallmark of the community as it grows.
Building on the Scaleup Programme's positive impact
The Scaleup Programme is dedicated to helping the very fastest-growing innovation-focused British businesses to scale with intensive support from a board of senior scaleup directors. Independent analysis of the programme has demonstrated a high return on investment of 1:12 (employment based GVA) and 1:26 (profitability based GVA). See more in the infographic here.
The programme has recently entered the next three-year phase of delivery and aims to work with 200 scaling companies each year.
The Scaleup Programme Alumni Community will enhance the experience for cohort companies. It will for example feature engagement with Innovate UK, other key partners and peers, invitations to inform Government policy and the benefits of promotional activity.
The inaugural gathering, inviting all Scaleup Programme participants past and present, is taking place today on 26 May 2022 at the London Stock Exchange, in partnership with the ScaleUp Institute.
