Training for nurses in the introduction of catheters using virtual reality technology.
A Spanish initiative of specialised developers and nurses offers a virtual reality technology with controllers emulating the hands of the nurse to train in the insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC). They are looking for partners, with no preferred location, to establish commercial agreements with technical assistance and technical and research cooperation agreements.
The company is looking for healthcare institutions (hospitals, researchers), training institutions (universities or nursing schools), healthcare private businesses in the field of catheters and ultrasound machines. Tasks to be performed by the partners: -support in development phase -validation -certification -commercialisation & distribution They are seeking to collaborate with health reputed institutions, suppliers or interested parties. The objective of an international collaboration is to broaden the scope of the project to adapt it to the international market during its development phase. They also intend to make their interested parties to be commercial partners.
This training method using virtual reality for nurses is being developed in Madrid, by a team of specialised developers and nurses currently working in the fields of virtual reality and nursing in reputed hospitals. The technology used is virtual reality with controllers emulating the hands of the nurse to train. This technology allows for the simulation of a safe environment consisting of a hospital room, patient, ultrasound equipment and the catheter package as well as any auxiliary tools required, all made of 3D customized models. It was noticed a lack of expertise in the nursing personnel in different types of nursing techniques, but in particular in the inversion of catheters. This lack of expertise can put health of delicate patients in danger. This proposed system intend to increase the general knowledge of the professionals that can be trained both at an educational stage (schools, universities...) as well as in the hospitals. They are looking for healthcare institutions, training institutions, healthcare private businesses in the field of catheters and ultrasound machines to establish commercial agreements with technical assistance and technical and research cooperation agreements.
