A Bristol innovator has launched a pioneering health and safety device and raised £450,000 following support with design thinking and investment readiness from Innovate UK EDGE.

Medwise.ai is a search engine designed specifically for medical staff to help them find answers to clinical questions, at the point of need. Supported by Innovate UK EDGE, Medwise.ai was first developed as a tool to help doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals access up-to-date information on Covid-19.

Thanks to grants and business support from Innovate UK and its business growth and scaling service Innovate UK EDGE, Rubixx Solutions is disrupting the housing association market with an innovative software product.

Supported by Innovate UK EDGE, a London-based start-up has created a successful business based around novel children’s plates with in-built train tracks. 

Sophia Procter, founder of Munchy Play, said: “the idea for the plates came to me because I struggled to get my toddler to sit down at the table at mealtimes.” 

Start-up company FreshCheck is developing low-cost products that verify surface hygiene quickly and easily. It has already produced a spray product, using its unique colour changing technology, and with Innovate UK EDGE support, is now working on a wipe version. 

Supported by Innovate UK EDGE, a Darlington-based company is making a commercial success of its creative approaches to helping people with dementia, mild cognitive impairment, neurological conditions and mental health issues.
